I've been having a bit of fun in the sewing room! 🧵✨

I created this simple Pumpkin Patched block tutorial that I would love for you to download for free! It's such a fun block to get creative with fussy cutting. 🍂🎃

What will you make with your Pumpkin Patched block?

  • A mini quilt?

  • A trick-or-treat bag?

  • A full quilt?

  • A table runner?

(All of the above!)

If you make anything from the pattern and you're on Instagram, please tag me @prayeriewife and share with #pumpkinpatchedblock — I'd love to see your creations! 💖

Cutting Strips for the Pumpkin Patched Block

Today I'm cutting strips for a big batch of Pumpkin Patched blocks using a ruler that's made this so much faster.

I'm getting ready to sew a whole stack of these!

While you're there, they've also got some really pretty fall mini charm packs worth a look.

Web Piecing Tutorial: Keep Scrappy Quilt Squares in Order
Video 2 Embod:

I want to show you how I web piece my quilt squares — this is such a fast, foolproof way to keep a big scrappy block organized from cutting table to sewing machine.

In this tutorial I'm using my Pumpkin Patched block as the example, walking through exactly how I label my columns, chain piece them together without losing my place, and press everything so the seams nest perfectly.

In this video you'll see: How I letter/number my columns so I never lose track of orientation

How to chain piece column by column without cutting your threads in between, so the whole block stays connected as one "web"

How I press alternating rows so the seams nest when it's time to join them

Where I place my low-volume vs. busier fabrics to keep the pumpkin shape reading clearly

My plans for turning this block into a lap quilt (or maybe a table runner — we'll see!)
